Northview Sires Open Pimlico In Style
Progeny By Not For Love and Lion Hearted Notch Stakes Wins
04/18/2009- Spring is here. The flowers are in bloom and the Pimlico meet is underway. And Northview stallions sired the winners of both stakes on the first Pimlico card on Saturday, April 18!
NOT FOR LOVE’s 3-year-old daughter BLIND DATE (left) got her first stakes win with a sensational rally in the Hookedonthefeelin S. Well back early in the 5 fur. turf stakes, BLIND DATE was forced five wide on the turn before drawing off to win by nearly two lengths. Bred by her owner, William Backer, BLIND DATE now has three wins in four starts and in her other stakes attempt was third in Maryland Million Lassie S.
Three races later, LION HEARTED’s daughter PRINCESS NYLA (pictured top) reigned supreme in the Geisha S. It was the first stakes win for Stephen Quick’s homebred 4-year-old filly, who has been a model of consistency over the past two years. In getting her fourth lifetime victory, PRINCESS NYLA has now finished in the top three in her dozen starts at 3 and 4.
NOT FOR LOVE and LION HEARTED currently rank one-two on the Mid-Atlantic sires list for 2009 and NOT FOR LOVE is the region’s leading sire by number of winners, with LION HEARTED tied for third. It’s another bountiful season for the region’s top sires!
