Great Love Digs In For Stakes Win
Becomes Great Notion's Second Stakes Winner
05/09/2009- GREAT NOTION’s 3-year-old son GREAT LOVE turned back challenge after challenge to get his first stakes win in the $100,000 Tom Ridge Stakes on Presque Isle Downs’s 2009 opening Saturday on May 9.
The six-furlong stakes run over the synthetic track was GREAT LOVE’s third win in a row, at three different tracks. The bay colt owned by Janet Wayson and trained by John Robb is also in the midst of a streak in which he has been either first or second in his past seven starts, including a runnerup performance in Laurel Park’s Dancing Count Stakes. The ultra consistent colt has been on the board in 10 of his 11 lifetime starts for earnings of $155,205.
GREAT LOVE, a member of his sire’s first crop, is GREAT NOTION’s second stakes winner from just 16 starters. One of the fastest runners of his generation, GREAT NOTION was a dazzling stakes winner at one mile and set blazing fractions to just miss taking the Gr. 1 King’s Bishop S. Last year’s leading freshman sire in Maryland, GREAT NOTION has 32 current 2-year-olds waiting in the wings for this year.
