Empire Love: Not For Love Filly Captures Stakes In New York!
Region's Top Sire Approaches $6-Million Mark For 2008
10/19/2008- Love was in the air on New York Showcase Day at Belmont Park on Oct. 18! NOT FOR LOVE’s daughter LOVE COVE never looked back in taking the $150,000 Ticonderoga H. And in the richest race on the card, 5-year-old LOVE ABROAD finished third in the $250,000 Empire Classic H.
Owned by Laue Ranch and trained by Tom Albertani, LOVE COVE recorded her first career stakes victory in the turf test for fillies and mares at nine furlongs. The 4-year-old filly, bred in New York by David Cassidy, is NOT FOR LOVE’s 47 career stakes winner and eighth of 2008.
NOT FOR LOVE got his third stakes horse of the day with 2-year-old colt TITRANIUM’s third-place finish in Remington Park’s $125,000 Remington MEC Mile S. The flurry of 2008 stakes horses – 26 to date – have helped NOT FOR LOVE maintain his position as the nation’s leading sire standing outside of Kentucky.
NOT FOR LOVE ranks 14th in the nation by total earnings, with nearly $5.4 million, and is 9th on the list of sires by number of winners, with 111 this year. The Mid-Atlantic region’s leading sire for the past six years, he is closing fast on his previous best annual earnings mark of $5.7 million, set last year. And there are more than two months to go!
