Not For Love Shines On Preakness Weekend
Two Stakes Winners, One Graded Stakes Placed Runner
05/16/2009- With the eyes of the racing world focused on Pimlico, NOT FOR LOVE showed why he has been the nation’s leading sire standing outside of Kentucky for the past six years with TWO stakes winners on the May 15th card and a graded stakes-placed runner on Preakness Day!
SMART AND FANCY, the Maryland-bred champion older mare of 2008, proved as dangerous as ever when in her first start of 2009 she got up to win The Very One S. on Friday’s Black-Eyed Susan day card. The 6-year-old mare, owned by Park Avenue Racing and trained by Tony Dutrow, boosted her lifetime earnings to $785,363 in 24 career starts with her 11th stakes win.
Three-year-old filly BLIND DATE (pictured) concluded the day with a daylight score in the Hilltop S. It was the second consecutive stakes win for William Backer’s homebred trained by Hamilton Smith.
On Saturday, 2009 stakes winner NOT FOR SILVER rallied from the back of the pack to finish second in the Gr. 3 Hirsch Jacobs S. The Mike Trombetta-trained 3-year-old, owned by Ted Julio, won Aqueduct’s Fred “Cappy” Capossela S. earlier in the year.
NOT FOR LOVE is represented by four stakes winners and four stakes-placed runners so far in 2009 and remains the leading sire in the Mid-Atlantic region!
