A Sensational Weekend For Not For Love
Five Stakes Horses, Three States, Three Days
11/16/2009- Five stakes horses, three states, three days. . . just another spectacular weekend for NOT FOR LOVE runners! LOVE WHO and LOVE’S BLUSH (pictured above) become their sire’s newest stakes winners, pushing NOT FOR LOVE’s total for the year to 14, tying his mark of 2008.
Hidden Acres 4-D Farm’s homebred 2-year-old LOVE WHO rolled to a 10 3/4-length score in the New Jersey Juvenile S. for state-breds at Meadowlands on Nov. 13. His final time was a scintillating 1:09.02 while just cruising to the finish. Two races later, Gunsmith Stables’ NOT FOR LOVE daughter Our Eponene was nipped at the wire in the fillies division of the
New Jersey Juvenile S, missing by a nose after setting the pace in the six-furlong test.
LOVE’S BLUSH proved best in the drive over a field of accomplished fillies in Laurel Park’s All Brandy S. on Saturday, Nov. 14, winning by more than a length over Sweet Goodbye, with NOT FOR LOVE filly Amie’s Legend in third. LOVE’S BLUSH, bred by Richard Golden and racing in the name of his Sycamore Hall Farm LLC, has two other stakes-placings this year from five starts, including a third in the Maryland Million Oaks in her stakes debut.
Two-time stakes winner LOVE COVE’s third-place finish in Aqueduct’s Sabin S. on Nov. 12 upped her lifetime earnings to $396,293. Beaten less than a length in her most recent outing, it was the ninth stakes win or placing for Laue Ranch’s 5-year-old mare in her career.
NOT FOR LOVE ranks seventh in the nation on the leading sires list by number of stakes winners in 2009, and 16th by progeny earnings with $5.6 million. The top-ranked North American sire standing outside of Kentucky since 2003,
he has more stakes winners this year than Unbridled’s Song, Street Cry (Ire) and Malibu Moon!
