It’s the dawn of a new era in Pennsylvania as Northview PA has opened its doors at its stunning new facility in Peach Bottom.
Situated on 180 acres of fertile farm land in picturesque Lancaster County, the eight-stall stallion barn, breeding shed, management and booking office, and 20-stall broodmare/foaling barn have been completed by expert Amish craftsmen at B&D Builders.
Now that Phase 1 at the state of the art complex has been completed, Phase 2 plans are well underway, with two additional 20-stall broodmare barns to be ready in time for the 2010 foaling and breeding season.
The new stallion barn is well stocked, with graded stakes winners CONGRESSIONALHONOR, FAIRBANKS, LOVE OF MONEY, MEDALLIST and PARTNER’S HERO in residence.
CONGRESSIONALHONOR (by Forestry), a half-brother to Horse of the Year Saint Liam from the family of top-class sire Silver Ghost, won the Gr. 3 Bay Meadows Derby in his stakes debut. He remains one of PA’s most popular young sires, and his first foals come to the races in 2009.
FAIRBANKS, a multiple graded stakes winner of $879,768 and $1.85-million Saratoga select sales topper by world-renowned champion and leading sire Giant’s Causeway, stands his first season in 2009. The half-brother to graded winner Keats earned a 115 Beyer Speed Figure when winning the Gr. 3 Tokyo City Handicap at Santa Anita, a number bettered only by Eclipse Award winner Lawyer Ron among older horses in 2007 at a mile or more on the main track.
LOVE OF MONEY, the devastatingly easy winner of the Gr. 2 Pennsylvania Derby over a field that included Gr. 1 winner Tapit, millionaire Pollard’s Vision and Gr. 1 Belmont S.-placed Royal Assault, is a son of the best stallion standing outside of Kentucky, NOT FOR LOVE, out of a SMARTEN mare. His oldest foals are yearlings in 2009.
MEDALLIST, a sensational sprinter by classic winner Touch Gold out of stakes winning, Gr. 1-placed Santaria (by champion sprinter Star de Naskra), will also have his first runners come to the races in 2009. A graded stakes winner each year he raced, MEDALLIST won four stakes, three in track or stakes record time over three different ovals.
PARTNER’S HERO, a son of Danzig and a half-brother to champion sprinter Safely Kept, was the top-ranked Pennsylvania stallion in 2008 (to have stood in state), with progeny earnings in excess of $2.8 million. His seven stakes horses for the year were led by graded winner HEROS REWARD, a Breeders’ Cup participant who was Maryland-bred Horse of the Year of 2007 and has career earnings of $911,216.
